Kim Kardashian’s Perfume to Appear on “The Apprentice”

For all those Kim Kardashian fans out there, you’ll be happy to hear that we’ll get a tiny slice of Kim on “The Apprentice” later this fall. Kim told everyone earlier on her website news:

My fragrance was the subject of one of The Apprentice tasks at the Perfumania chain in NYC and the episode will be airing in November!

Two New Fragrances For Summer

Looking for a new fragrance? Two well-known ladies have new fragrances* that launch this month. One is Paris Hilton’s Tease and the other is Jessica Simpson’s Fancy Night. I had the opportunity to try both last week.

I was pleased to find that Paris Hilton has left the candy-sweet scent of her previous fragrances behind. Tease is thoroughly grown-up, with a scent described as being “sexy like a true Hollywood Goddess.” This is by fair my favorite of Paris Hilton’s fragrances.

Tease fragrance notes: Fresh Fuji Apple, Sunny Sea Mist Accord, White Peach Nectar, Sparkling Bergamot, Frangipani Petals, Night Blooming Jasmine, Creamy Tuberose, Golden Amber, Blonde Woods, Warm Sand Accord

Jessica Simpson’s new fragrance is the third in her line of Fancy fragrances. It’s a Floriental with a Chypre opening, warmer and sexier than the previous Fancy fragrances. I’m a sucker for anything with an Oriental flare, so this one gets a thumbs up from me.

Simple French Pedicure

I am training for a half marathon that I plan to run in October. I’ve never run a half before, I’m more of a 5K girl, so to prepare I’ve increased my mileage. The increased mileage does great things for my body (I’m getting my butt back, yahoo!!), but it can be tough on my feet. Sometimes I lose a toenail. Yuck. Not the best thing to happen to a girl during sandal season, right?

Luckily, I was introduced to a new product from Kiss – Everlasting French Toenails*.

The nails are made to go over your own toenails, so what I do is glue the nail to the new toenail where it’s growing in. It’s very simple and in minutes I’m loving my sandal feet again.

The toenails are easy to remove with acetone or Kiss’s All or 1 Artificial Nail Remover.

Zen Hair Care From Z Mei

I got a shipment of Z Mei skin and hair care products in the mail. Seriously, a bunch of them, so it’s going to take me a little while to get through the whole shipment. So far I can tell you that the Z Mei Nourishing & Revitalizing Shampoo* is one of the most unique that I’ve ever used.

You know how some hair products say they give you more body, but they rarely (if ever) deliver? This product says it will give you “bounce” and “restore luster.” Believe it. I’ve used it three times now – twice I’ve let my air dry and once I went through the whole blow-dry-velcro-rollers thing. All three times my hair has felt softer and looked fuller than with anything else I’ve ever used. And I used to be a hairdresser – I’ve used many products. It feels different just in the rinse – very smooth. I’m hard on my hair, it’s long and I color and highlight it, so when something makes a difference in it’s condition and appearance it’s pretty exciting.

The Z Mei Hair Repair & Strengthening Conditioner* is good, too, but I really believe that the shampoo is the key. Both products are made without synthetic detergents or waxes. Old Spice & the Guy On A Horse

Did you catch any of the Old Spice excitement last week? The Guy On the Horse, Man You Want Your Man To Smell Like, was making personalized messages for internet users all over the place. My mom called a few minutes ago and said people are still talking about it. He even proposed for a guy….. and the proposal was accepted. The entire thing was genius – a total internet blitz that grew and grew.

My blog, Girl Looks Swell was included. When I come online Tuesday morning, I got to work moderating comments and found one that said something along the lines of , I wanted to thank you for your kind words (I had written up his new commercial – the all-in-one shot spot seen in theaters this July) and I made something for you. What the?? I thought it was a prank, then I clicked the link and this is what I found…..

Dang. Every time I hear, “Hello, Michelle…” my knees buckle a bit. Great job Old Spice!

Brenda Novak & White Heat

Brenda Novak fans, listen up!

Summer Skin Care: NEOVA SPF

This Summer I’ve been trying out all sorts of *sunscreens from a number of companies. One of the most effective that I’ve found is the Neova TI-SILC GT SPF 60.

The Neova is a broad spectrum sunscreen made with micronized titanium dioxide, Octinoxate, and anti-oxidants like green tea extract, vitamin E, and sunflower seed oil.

It goes on a little different from other SPFs - it has a tint to it, which really helps to ensure that you’ve got an even application. It has a pleasant scent, as well. It reminds me a bit of Ben Gay, but the fragrance fades as the product is absorbed into the skin. Skin feels soft and not sticky with use. (Not a fan of thick, sticky sunscreens. Yuck).

Neova feels light on the skin and stays effective throughout 80 minutes of swimming or excessive activity (which means, it stays on when you sweat). The antioxidant ingredients make this a great product for people who want to address aging skin as well as sun protection.
