Good Skin Care Starts With…. Rules
I work at taking good care of my skin. I am not someone who has any interest in future plastic surgery or shots of Botox. It’s up to me to keep my skin looking as youthful and healthy as possible.
In order to do this, I follow a few simple rules:
*I wash and mositurize twice a day
*I always wear sunscreen – all year
*I take a multivitamin and an extra vitamin C
*I use an eye cream
*I drink a lot of water
*I NEVER go to bed with makeup on
*I try to sleep on my back
Honestly, the hardest thing on the list in the back-sleeping. I want to roll over and smoosh my face into the pillow, but it causes this little crease on the right side of my face, just above my lip. Not cute.
I’m going to focus on skin care this week, so if you have anything specific that you’d like me to talk about, please leave me a comment and if I don’t know the answer, I will do my best to find it for you.
There are so many products out on the market and it can be hard to know what to use and what order to use them in.
If you are confused about the order in which to place things, then here are a few guidelines for night time skin care, post cleansing:
*Step one: Eye Cream
*Step two: A treatment-type product on first. This would be an acne medication or an anti-aging product.
*Step three: Apply a serum, if using one.
*Step four: Moisturizer
For day, I go with eye cream then a moisturizer containing sunscreen. If I’m exercising, then I apply an additional heavier sunscreen.
Another thing, skin care can get costly. You don’t have to spend a fortune on good skin care. If something is too costly, I’ve found that I tend to skimp on product application. When it comes to sunscreen, moisturizer, etc, I’m doing a disservice to my skin if I don’t apply enough. Better to go with a cheaper (but good quality) product and apply an adequate amount.
