Chinese New Year Tiger Activities

Not only is this week Valentine’s Day but it is also the Chinese New Year. I’ve never celebrated the New Year before but this year it has a little more meaning than ever. I have several friends who adopted children from China and several who are still waiting for their children to come home. Because of the site that I own, Grown in My Heart, I try to find special ways to let them know that I think about them on their holidays.

2010 is the Year of the Tiger so focus your crafts for the new year on Tigers and your kids will be “roaring” into the year!

Kaboose has a gorgeous Tiger Paper Bag Craft…easy for 7 and ups and minimal supplies. No Time for Flash Cards has an alternate version that is easier for little ones.

One of my writers at Grown in My Heart, Kim, creates these super stripey Tiger Lanterns!

For those who LOVE music…make a peddler drum with a tiger.

And, of course, a simple coloring page for after school activity.
