Did the Salahis Crash the White House Party?

There’s a lot of stir around the net right now on whether or not the Salahis, crashed the White House Party over the past week. What do you think?

PARTY CRASHERS AT WHITE HOUSE

Currently Tareq and Michaele Salahi are both stating that they’d never do such a thing and are hurt by others stating they would. Apparently they were both invited to the party but there must not have been a big announcement to the public as everyone thought they were crashers. How would you feel if the United States was calling you a Party Crasher after you were invited?

The two hope that the Secret Service clear their name and let the public know. They were on the Today Show where they were even asked to verify that they weren’t on the show to get money, only to clear their name.

Here’s the interview with Matt Lauer:

I have one thing to ask, if everyone is going to call these two party crashers. Wasn’t this the WHITE HOUSE? Are you telling me that anyone can just walk into a White House dinner and not get stopped? To crash a party at the White House does not seem to be that easy, that is unless they no longer care and security is too relaxed. If this is true, maybe they should look into the security detail around the President as well as the White House. Do you think it was just an accident and they slipped through?

White House Party Crashers Walk into State Dinner

For those of you still trying to figure out who the Salahis are, flip on the tv…yes, they are trying to get on a reality TV show called “Real Housewives.” I think, if they really weren’t invited, they got caught because of the TV cameras following them when they knew who they were. It actually sounds like this was a misunderstanding to me, not a party crash.

MSNBC:

A friend of the couple, McLean, Va., real estate agent Casey Margenau, said in an interview with The Associated Press that the couple interpreted an e-mail exchange as permission to attend the exclusive White House event. Margenau said he did not personally see the e-mails and did not know with whom the couple was corresponding.

I think they crashed the party, but I don’t think they feel like they crashed it. They were so determined to turn into movers and shakers that they read the emails and saw an invitation where there wasn’t one. I think they are pushy and self important, but branding them as traitors or a danger to national security the way some people are is a little much. The blame ultimately should rest on the men or women who let them in without an official invitation. I would hope security doesn’t plan to wave in terrorist suspects because they are being followed by cameras and are nicely dressed.

I agree, I don’t think they believe they crashed because they were allowed in. They were probably under the impression it would be fine. Security is one thing I was talking with my husband about. What if it had been a terrorist? During a party, dinner, etc I’d expect the security to be even tighter, if they don’t have an invite, they don’t come in.
