National Read in the Bathtub Day

As strange as it may sound, February 9 is National Read in the Bathtub Day. Yes, I know it sounds strange…but how many of us adults take a good novel into the bubble bath to relax?

Can’t we teach our children that this is a good time to wind down? But, how?

Do we stack books in the bathroom for potty time when they are toddlers? (I did this for AJ and now he loves taking his book of the week when he goes.) And remember one of the most recent episode’s of How I Met Your Mother? It centered around taking a magazine into the work bathroom.

So, what is so different about taking a book, or magazine, into the bathtub?

Over at BlogHer, Sassymonkey has some rules on reading in the bathtub (and they are pretty darn good) and there is even a pretty fancy gadget for reading in the tub. If you are a compulsive bathtub reader it is probably a good purchase.

I have been able to find some fabulous bathtub reads for the kids! eebee’s BATH TIME Adventures allow kids to actually play AND read in the bathtub.
