Valentine’s Day is a fun holiday to decorate for. It is more low key than Christmas yet it is special enough to allow you to add festive and romantic touches to your home. Whether you are decorating for a party or just like to change the look of your home with the various holidays, color plays an important part in how your home appears to your guests.

Roses are always perfect Valentine's Day decor.

You can add Valentine’s Day decor in a number of ways.

  • In the kitchen napkins, towels, hot pads, a holiday themed apron, and even placemats can reflect the romantic theme.
  • Throw pillows, afghans, and quilts can carry out your color theme in the living areas of your home.
  • Use vintage greeting cards and post cards in small vignettes around your home.
  • Roses are always appropriate! Besides a bouquet think about using silk roses as napkin rings, curtain tie backs, or in other creative ways.
  • Flickering candles will set a romantic Valentine’s Day mood. If you use scented consider scents like chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, or rose.
  • If you have a small, white artificial Christmas tree you might consider hanging small hearts, silk roses and other items on it and having a table top Valentine’s Day tree. If you don’t have one you still may be able to get one on after Christmas clearance.
  • Use a white or pink table cloth and sprinkle it with red, pink, or white glitter.

Color themes for Valentine’s Day might include:

  • Red and white is a classic Valentine’s Day combination
  • Pink and Black is sophisticated and contemporary.
  • Red and Black is passionate.
  • Purple and Pink is playful and sweet.
  • Burgundy and Ivory is sophisticated  and elegant.

What ever theme you decide on have fun with it. There is no right or wrong when it comes to Valentine’s Day decor.
