Make Your Own Wedding Favors
Wedding favors can range from budget-friendly to pricey, really, seriously pricey!
There are so many pretty and creative options out there, so why not look at making your own wedding favors? You can save money, be more eco-friendly and come up with a little gift for your guests that truly reflects you and your fiance.
When I got married, my fiance and I decided that we wanted to have edible favors – chocolate if possible. I spent lots of time looking for chocolates or candies in the right colors and theme – but didn’t find the exact right one. At least the right one in our budget!
I ended up making chocolates using a simple candy mold and melting chocolate. I bought several molds and was able to make 150 chocolates in an afternoon. Each chocolate got placed in an individual plastic bag (available in bulk from the big craft stores, or online) and tied. We used extra origami butterflies to top the favors off.
With a few hours work, we had favors that looked (and tasted!) great and reflected our wedding colors and theme.
Don’t want to do edible favors?
How about making custom wrappers for seed packages or bubble wands? There are free online programs that allow you to print your own labels. Etch inexpensive votive candle holders with a kit from the craft store.
You don’t need to go for those expensive favors from the glossy wedding magazines – just take a look around and see what your local craft store, grocery or even office supply store has handy

Not that anyone asked me, but I’m a huge fan of edible favors!
Edible favors? Si, como no! I like the origami idea too. Very pretty butterflies. I bet it was a lovely wedding.
I agree totally with Cyndi…my niece is getting married in July and she has chosen yellow as one of her colors…which lends itself perfectly to use lots of lemons in the reception decorations…and that lends itself perfectly to the favors we’re doing…bags of lemon drop candies…I think they will be great favors!
I love the bag of lemon drops idea!
That’s enough Gadding About. I’d better get back to work.
I like the idea of edible favors. We did coffee wedding favors. We met at Starbucks so we bought little packages of the coffee plus a poem I had written abut meeting him. People told us they loved the idea because they made the coffee the next day and thought about our day.
