ust a few days ago I wrote about the color turquoise, which was named color of the year for 2010 by Pantone, that self-described authority on color. You can read the original post for yourself, but to recap, I offered inspiration for using turquoise in the landscape, mainly on structures (walls, fences) and garden accessories (furniture, gazing balls).

I also mentioned that I couldn’t think of any turquoise flowers…

Well, I got a note from Jean Potuchek, who blogs over at Jean’s Garden, letting me know that some of her Siberian iris have inner petals of an aqua-blue  — and so they do!

Thanks, Jean, for so very generously letting me post your photo here!

(Clicking on the photo will take you on a tour of Jean’s garden, in a blog post that features summery flowers in all shades of blue).
