Journaling Your Family Travels

Great memories are made when families travel.

I’ve always enjoyed traveling with family ever since I was a child and my parents took four children in a car, three sitting in front and three in back.  There also was no air conditioning in those days in summertime.

I don’t remember the heat and discomfort though, only having flat tires occasionally.  However, those were times we children could run around and get some exercise.  Mother sat in the shade (hopefully there was a tree nearby) and read or wrote postcards.  Father fixed the tire, often having to patch the inner tube.

We traveled with our daughter from the time she was 3 months old and took vacation treks into mountains when she was older.  We followed the Oregon Trail, explored Mammouth Cave, drove over the Skyline Drive, and much more.

I wrote about our travels in journals, took photos and kept scrapbooks.  Today, with digital cameras, families often post their photos and journal online.

Take care that you remember these times and pass them on to other generations.  They are part of your family heritage.
